Ortler Tour, April 2008

Daniel and LisaBetween April 15-23, Lisa and Daniel will take on this 7-day, hut to hut ski mountaineering tour. The Ortler is a group of high peaks nestled between the Bernina group of St Moritz to the west and the Dolomites to the east. If you look on a map,  the Ortler is just south of the point where Italy, Switzerland and Austria come together. The tour lies within the Stilfsejoch (Stevlio) National Park, and winds among and occasionally climbs some remarkably high peaks.The route crosses high alpine glaciers, avalanche terrain  includes peak ascents, gorgeous scenery. The Stilfsejoch National Park has 14 summits over 3000m- the highest being Mt. Ortler, 3905m. The tentative itinerary is listed below- please check back for updates, photos and videos!

12-15-Apr Day tours in region- recon and prep work, 15th-Sulden-Marteller hut
16-Apr Marteller hut(2610m)- Cima marmotta-Branca hut 
17-Apr Branca hut- Pizzo tresero and punta matteo-Branca hut
18-Apr Branca hut-Palon de mare-Branca hut
19-Apr Branca hut-Pasquale(3769m)-cevedale col(3553m)-Pizzini hut
20-Apr Pizzini hut-Col Pale Rosse-Coma Miniera-Bertarelli Hut 
21-Apr Bertarelli Hut -Tuckettspitzezz93462m)-Münstertal-Sulden
